The House System
The International School of Turin has a House System in which each student from Grade 2 – 12 is a member. The aim of the House System is to bring students together to raise the spirit of the school, to feel included and to be a part of positive competition.
There are four Houses: Diamond, Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby. The students are divided equally between the Houses, special attention being paid to the balance of girls to boys, different nationalities and ensuring that siblings are in the same House. Houses also have supporting members of staff who help organize, supervise and take part in the events.
In the Upper School each House has a Captain and Vice Captain (students), this years election will be different from previous years. Captains and Vice Captains will be elected from both Middle and High school. This will increase the number of opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills. They will meet on a regular basis to discuss ideas for future events. There are already some exciting ideas for the coming year, beginning with an Extreme Frisbee Challenge for Middle School and a Fly Football Competition for grade 9 and 10...... That's just for starters!
Most of the events will earn House Points which will be displayed on the House System notice board. At the end of the year the points are calculated and the winning House receives a trophy to be displayed in school. Who will be victorious this year? Time will tell.....
