Model United Nations (MUN)
Over the past seven years, IST has organized and hosted the Turin Model United Nations conference, an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate students about civics, effective communication, globalization, and multilateral diplomacy.
The TOMUN (Turin Model United Nations) conference is held at the United Nations campus in Turin in partnership with the International Labour Organization.
Within MUN students take on roles as delegates and ambassadors and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization. Students will research countries, take on roles as diplomats and ambassadors, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, negotiate and then develop solutions to world problems.
It is also a fantastic opportunity to meet other internationally minded students from around the world.
CIMUN is a MUN conference held at the Copenhagen International School which began in 2018. It was inspired by their experience of a TOMUN Conference in that year and led to IST sending a delegation to their first event. We have maintained our connection with CIMUN as it is the perfect conference for inexperienced MUN delegates to attend early in the school year. The conference is held during September. At this conference the committees are small and the chairs are supportive so it allows delegates to learn about the requirements of MUN conferences in a less challenging environment.
